We wish them the best of luck!
According to media outlets, sibling duo AKMU will be leaving YG Entertainment to create their own independent label after their exclusive contract expires at the end of December.

AKMU is reportedly discussing establishing its own company with its longtime YG Entertainment manager.
A music industry insider shared, “A few months ago, Lee Chanhyuk, Lee Suhyun, and Yang Hyun Suk met up to talk about the future direction of AKMU’s activities. Yang, who has looked over them for the past 12 years, encouraged their new start, revealing that the freedom of a new working environment would be another driving force for AKMU’s growth as artists.”
AKMU previously committed to YG by renewing their seven-year contract with YG in 2021. Regarding the unusually long five-year contract renewal, Lee Chanhyuk replied, “For seven years, we’ve never had a single conflict or disagreement, and they’ve supported us in the direction we wanted to go, guiding us as young people.”
With this, all eyes are on what AKMU will do after ending the 12-year partnership with YG.

- “AKMU’s done everything themselves anyway. Nothing much will change even if they leave the company.”
- “Good. They honestly didn’t even really need that company.”
- “Finally.”
- “I have no worries about this group. I hope they continue to release good music in the future.”
- “I knew they were there for a long time, but they really were.”
- “Yes, finally!!”
- “I hope they promote more now that they’ve left YG.”
- “Finally, we can listen to AKMU’s music.”
- “Back when they renewed, I thought they would never leave because they were so close with the company. I remember an article that said something like, ‘We’d leave the industry, but we’ve never thought about leaving YG.’ But I’m not worried because they won’t change even if they become independent.”
- “Honestly, they’re going to do fine even without that agency.”
