Actor and singer Show Lo recently spoke on a talk show about suffering from “smiling depression,” a condition where one hides inner sadness behind a cheerful exterior.
During a routine EEG test, doctors found abnormal brain activity, diagnosing him with a tendency toward severe depression. Shocked by the results, Show Lo admitted he often pretends to be strong for his mother, who has battled Alzheimer’s disease for over a decade.

Two years ago, Show Lo drafted a will due to his health concerns, the pressure of caring for his mother, and stress from online harassment. Reports suggest he left his fortune to his mother, transferred his streetwear brand to his representative, and may have adopted the representative’s two children.
Since stepping back from showbiz, Show Lo has led a private life, focusing on his mother’s care, travel, and treatment. He recently authored a book titled “You Can Laugh at Me, But Don’t Laugh at My Stage”, reflecting on his life and career.

Show Lo debuted in 1996 and rose to fame with roles in Butterfly Lovers, Journey to the West: Conquering the Demons, and The Mermaid. Besides acting, he is also a singer, MC, and judge on music programs.
His career faced turmoil in 2020 after allegations of infidelity from an ex-girlfriend surfaced, causing him to step back from the entertainment scene. Since then, he has appeared rarely at public events.
