The 46th Blue Dragon Film Awards dazzled audiences with unforgettable moments, none more iconic than when real-life couple Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin made history as the first married pair to win Best Actor and Best Actress on the same night. Held on November 19 at KBS Hall in Yeouido, Seoul, the ceremony once again welcomed hosts Han Ji-min and Lee Je-hoon , celebrating Korean cinema’s finest works from October 2024 to October 2025.
Hyun Bin was honored for his intense portrayal of An Jung-geun in Harbin , a historical espionage thriller set in 1909. “Playing An Jung-geun was overwhelming,” he confessed in his acceptance speech, “But director Woo Min-ho believed in me. I dedicate this award to those who gave their all for Korea, and to my beloved wife Ye-jin and our son.”
Moments later, Son Ye-jin claimed Best Actress for her deeply empathetic performance in No Other Choice , where she plays a woman grappling with financial and emotional turmoil following her husband’s sudden unemployment. “Becoming a wife and a mother changed how I see the world,” she said tearfully, “I share this award with my husband Kim Tae-pyung and our son.”
The couple also jointly received the Popular Star Award , eliciting cheers and smiles as they stood side-by-side on stage. Host Lee Je-hoon quipped, “You’ll probably be placing those trophies next to each other at home. I’m jealous!”
This year’s awards were particularly notable not just for their emotional highlights but also for celebrating excellence across diverse cinematic categories. The drama No Other Choice dominated the night, winning a total of seven awards including Best Picture and Best Director for Park Chan-wook , who marked his fourth win in the category.
