“I’ve seen this film before.”
Billlie‘s Tsuki recently revealed why her company banned her from weight lifting.

On MBC’s variety show Radio Star, she shared something unexpected that left the viewers in disbelief.

Previously, Tsuki enjoyed exercises like weight-lifting.
I love exercising so much, I reached a 3-lift total of 165kg.
Through consistent training, I became stronger.
— Tsuki

However, the company soon banned her from doing so as her legs were becoming “too thick.” She explained, “As an idol, having slim legs is considered pretty, but I had a photoshoot, and when I looked at the pictures, my legs looked like a horse’s due to the shadows. So, I was told I couldn’t do muscle training for a while.”
But the company banned me from muscle training.
My legs became like a horse’s.
— Tsuki

Despite this, she mentioned that public perception of idols has changed a lot recently. She has taken up running as her latest form of exercise.
Now running is my hobby.
— Tsuki

The revelation immediately sparked backlash on social media where fans pointed out just how little control idols have over their own lives and bodies.
Give energetic performances! But don’t be athletic! But don’t be frail! But be skinny! But don’t get sick! But never eat! But be pretty! But be effortless! Truly and earnestly fuck you to the beauty standards of k-pop. https://t.co/9h9svptMNz

kpop companies banning idols from working out, from eating, from drinking, from sleeping, from posting, from interacting with fans in a way they’re comfortable, from meeting their family and friends, from getting an education, from getting their money, from partying, from dating https://t.co/XHmZsJU1nT

Many also drew parallels to other idols who have been told the same thing by their companies.
