The annual Metro Radio Hit Awards 2025, one of Hong Kong’s biggest music events, is set to take place on December 27. To kick off the celebrations, organizers held a press conference on October 29, drawing over 90 artists dressed in eye-catching Halloween-themed costumes.
Among the many rising stars in attendance, Kylie C. (Cheng Kei Yiu) stood out as one of the most talked-about newcomers. The 2025 music season has been a turning point for her, following the success of her two recently released singles that received positive feedback from both audiences and critics.

In an interview with Hong Kong 01, the young artist humbly shared:
“I’ve released two singles so far, and I’m happy to see my growth through each one. Winning the Best New Artist award would be great, but for me, the biggest reward is knowing that listeners appreciate my music and that my videos perform well on YouTube.”
This was also Kylie C.’s first time attending a major award show, and she admitted feeling both excited and nervous to be among the many established artists she once admired from afar.
“I grew up watching these award ceremonies. It feels magical to finally be here myself. I was especially thrilled to see Dear Jane they’ve been my idols for years. But honestly, I was too shy to say hello,” she confessed.

In addition to her musical rise, Kylie C. has gained attention for her outspoken stance on body image and self-acceptance, a topic that remains sensitive in Hong Kong’s entertainment scene.
In a recent street interview, she revealed that she once faced pressure over her weight and outfit choices.
“When I first started, people kept telling me what I should wear or how I should look. I used to worry if gaining a little weight would make people think I wasn’t fit for this industry,” she said.

“But over time, I realized that the most important thing is feeling comfortable and happy with myself. Why should anyone judge me for how I dress? Now, I wear what I like.”
Kylie C. shared that she has since learned to ignore negativity and focus on positivity.
“I used to feel hurt reading mean comments, but now I focus on the support I receive. I want people to see my effort and inner qualities, not just my appearance,” she added.

With her optimistic mindset and growing confidence, Kylie C. is emerging not only as a promising new artist but also as a symbol of body positivity and individuality for Hong Kong’s younger generation.
The Metro Radio Hit Awards 2025 press event highlighted both the enduring power of Hong Kong pop music and the rise of a new wave of artists like Kylie C., who bring authenticity, self-love, and courage to the stage.
